Machine Operator
We are seeking a skilled Machine (Sheeter) Operator to join our client's team in Chesterfield, VA. The Machine Operator will play a crucial role in our production process by efficiently operating and maintaining the sheeter, ensuring the accurate and timely sheeting of paper stock. This position requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
The Day to Day:
- Monitor Schedule and Prioritize: Keep a close eye on the production schedule and prioritize sheeting requisitions accordingly to meet customer demands.
- Check Paper Stock: Inspect paper stock from inventory for defects or damage and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Size Feasibility: Determine if paper size requests are feasible; promptly notify the production team if any problems or conflicts arise.
- Machine Operation: Enter length dimensions and caliber of paper into the computer, feed rolls into the sheeter, adjust belts and joggers, and move slitters and anvils to the proper width.
- Manage the sheeter by stocking spare parts and performing maintenance tasks, including installing and adjusting new blades and slitters.
- Ensure squareness at the beginning of each production run to maintain consistent quality.
- Combine sheeting requests when possible to minimize production time and enhance overall efficiency.
- Regularly check roll inventory and communicate with the purchasing team when stock is running low. Maintain inventory records on the computer, including entering stock and press "run information," and printing and posting labels on skids.
- Job Documentation: Maintain a daily log of job information to track production progress.
Qualifications:
- General knowledge of sheeting and paper, along with the ability to understand and perform related work routines of moderate difficulty.
- Three or more years of job-related experience in machine operation.
- Familiarity with computer systems.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 75% of the workday.
- Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Pay Rate/Shifts:
- $16.00 to $18.00 /hr
- Monday to Thursday
- 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM
