Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client, an international engineering firm, is seeking an organized, innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Taylor, TX. The ideal candidate will be able to provide, revise, or extend HVAC systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures as requested by the client. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop construction drawings and specifications which address the installation, integration, interconnection, and control of HVAC components within the standard building codes. Strong experience in semiconductors, clean rooms, and related facilities would be preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead project scope, HVAC budget, necessary constraints, and design approach as project manager
- Lead design of components and sub-systems for operation in ultra-high vacuum and precision mechanical components and subsystems
- Excellent communication skills to be involved in design team/owner meetings and communicate directly with the client and/or client’s representative
- Develop feasibility studies and project cost estimates
- Maintain working knowledge of the latest building codes and standards in the industry
- Formulate and lead design of HVAC systems including duct, piping, plumbing
- Perform and/or review calculations and energy models; formulate the design of HVAC systems including duct, piping, plumbing
- Create engineering documents using computer-aided design (CAD) technology utilizing Autodesk (Revit and AutoCAD) software
- Edit or draft project specifications
- Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site
- Review drawings for omissions, errors, interferences, overall quality, content accuracy, compliance with standards and codes
- Review product submittals for design content, and specify the action to be taken to reach specification compliance
- Maintain organized project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
- Prepare project file updates, transmittals, letters, reports, and requests for reproduction services
- Assist with checking, standards review, and maintenance of master specifications
- Perform production and quality monitoring of construction documents per company standards individually and or for less experienced staff
- Perform related duties as assigned
Education / License:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional Registration (PE) required
- LEED certification would be a plus
Experience:
- 15+ years of related experience in the mechanical engineering field (HVAC/building systems)
- Experience as a Mechanical lead engineer on multiple discipline projects; experiences of semiconductor, clean room, and related facilities
- Skills/Competencies:
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, building energy calculation software, and Bluebeam
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated knowledge of building codes
